This is truly fabulous!  If you don't select a level the site will begin by asking easy vocabulary questions and become more difficult depending on the students' ability to answer more difficult questions.  What's more, for every correct answer your students get the organization donates 10 grains of rice to the World Food Programme to help end hunger.  Build vocabulary and help people.  This works well when you've divided the class into teams and play for a set period of time awarding points for each correct answer.  You can continue to come back to it through the course of a lesson when their attention wains to re-energize the class.   http://www.freerice.com/#/english-vocabulary/

Use the letters to spell as many words as you can before time runs out. To spell a word, type the letters or click the hens in order and watch the word appear.  The game shows you how many words are possible with each combination of letters it presents.  Students get really energized by the amusing sound effects and often end up shouting so much the student at the keyboard has trouble understanding each word they're shouting.  Students often want to resort to simply spelling the word without saying it so I suggest pushing them to say the word and only if it's not being understood follow up with spelling it out.  If they're not following those instruction when one of their teammates is at the keyboard it's effective for the teacher to take over on the next round and refuse to enter the words unless they say the word first.…

This is an excellent word building game.    http://www.vocabulary.co.il/games2/letterblocks/letterblocks.swf Full screen version http://www.vocabulary.co.il/spelling/primary/letter-blocks-word-builder/ This link has a smaller image size of the game embedded in the site.   I ususally divide the class into 2 teams and set a time limit of 2 - 5 minutes and compare their final scores.  The key to getting everyone excited is encouraging the team to gather around the projected image and point/call out words they see.  The team member who is at the keyboard should be instructed to face the projected image, not the computer screen, or their team will try and gather around the computer.  If you have more time you can see how far they can go, but expect 15 - 25 minutes.  Try it yourself, this one's a bit addictive.
